Whether you're thinking about upgrading your existing Moto G, or looking to switch from a non-Android platform, there's some interesting details to share about the Moto G2 (XT 1068). It's been rumoured and now leaked so see below for all the latest.

Motorola Moto G2: Release date and price
The Moto G has received wide praise and acclaim so its unsurprisingly that you want to know when its successor will arrive. Motorola, at the time owned by Google, launch the Moto G in November last year. It's thought that the Moto G2 will arrive in time for Christmas so we should see it launched at a similar time this year. IFA 2014, which takes place in Berlin this September, is a possibility if Motorola wants to unveil the device a little earlier.
Motorola sent out invited on 14 August to an event which suggests the launch of the Moto G2 (see below). It includes fours icons, one of which is a phone with the letter 'G' on it - as well as an 'X' labelled phone (Moto X+1), smartwatch (Moto 360) and a Bluetooth headset. It will take place on 4 September in Chicago so we're not sure if this is a US-only launch.
At £135, the Moto G set a new benchmark for budget smartphones. You can buy cheaper phones but not with the impressive specs that Motorola offers. We, along with others, are hoping that the Moto G2 can arrive at a similar price to its predecessor with the upgrades rumoured below.
Motorola Moto G2: Specs
The leaked information on the Moto G2 comes from Mallandonoandroid which also got hold of the image which you can see at the top of the page.
The site claims that the Moto G2 will have the same 720 x 1280 resolution screen as the original smartphone. However, a pixel density of 320ppi is allude to which is slightly lower than the Moto G's 326ppi. This would place the screen size at around 4.6in compared to 4.5in. It's possible this is a misunderstanding and the display will remain the same size.
The Moto G2 is expected to run a quad-core ARM V7 (VFPv4 NEON) processor and Adreno 305 graphics. It is also rumoured to come in a dual-SIM model although this may not arrive in the UK.
The operating system isn't mentioned, but since it's been confirmed that both the Moto G and Moto X will get upgraded to Android L, if the Moto G2 does arrive later this year, it could well come with the new Android version pre-loaded or at worst will be upgradable from KitKat.
The last bit of information is that the camera will be upgraded from 5Mp to 8Mp which is a nice jump, especially for a budget smartphone. There's talk of the image suggesting front facing stereo speakers like HTC's BoomSound but the Motorola Moto E has this kind of design so we're not banking on it.
There's no mention of internal storage, RAM, battery capacity or otherwise. Since the updated Moto G now has both 4G LTE support and a microSD card slot, we assume the Moto G2 will also have these features.
